100 Stories: Bruce Conan, OD '72

Bruce ConanWhy did you chose your particular profession?

A well-respected optometrist/family friend encouraged me and allowed me to observe him at work. I knew that this profession would be a perfect fit.

Tell me about your time at Salus/PCO. Why did you choose to study there?

I was thrilled to be accepted to this highly rated school.

What are some of your favorite memories from Salus/PCO – favorite classes, professors, classmates, clinical experiences, co-workers?

My time at the clinic was invaluable and provided me with many experiences.

Tell me about your life after Salus/PCO – where do/did you practice, how long?
I practiced in Plantation, Florida. We were a partnership practice that specialized in contact lenses. I sold my practice to an associate in 2011 and retired in 2016. During the years, Optometric Management published several of my articles that highlighted my experiences on the lighter side of practicing optometry.

As Salus/PCO celebrates 100 years in 2019, what are your hopes for the college in the next 100 years?
My hopes are that this University will continue to be the premier optometric institution of learning.
