Drexel University by the Numbers

As Salus University continues the integration process with Drexel University, we wanted to take a deep dive into Drexel’s academics and student life.

Enrollment by the Numbers:

Drexel has more than 22,344 total students with 13,977 undergraduate and 8,367 graduate students.

Graduate students at Drexel hail from all 50 states and 93 different countries. Sixty percent of graduate students study on campus and 40% study online.

Student Life:

Drexel recognizes more than 300 student clubs and organizations, with more than 25 of those being dedicated solely to graduate students. 

Drexel is a Division I Athletic University, with over 470 student-athletes competing in 18 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sports in the Colonial Athletic Association. They offer many opportunities to participate in many club and intramural sports outside of their D1 teams, including sports like sailing, squash, martial arts, and beach volleyball.

Drexel also has over 30 recognized greek-letter organizations that provide and host a variety of services and events.

Research:

The university was awarded the R1 — very high research activity designation, by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions (2019), putting Drexel in the top 100 research universities in the country.

Drexel disclosed 56 total new inventions and received 26 new U.S. patents in fiscal year 2023. In total, to date, as an institution, Drexel has received 482 patents. 

Drexel employs over 1,100 research faculty and awards $160 million in grants for 2022 in research expenditures.
